Known as “The Week that Changes Lives,” HBCU Week is an annual event put on by the HBCU Foundation to provide encouragement, information, opportunities and scholarships to high school youth enrolling in more than 104 Historic Black Colleges and Universities in the U.S. Since 2017, HBCU Week has grown to reach nearly 12,000 students, with more than 3,000 on-the-spot college acceptances and over $18M in scholarships awarded.
Due to the pandemic, HBCU made the decision to pivot the normally massive physical gathering to a virtual event in 2020, partnering with UgoVirtual to create an interactive and highly engaging digital experience with less than 90 days of planning and implementation. The virtual event was so successful that HBCU Foundation returned in 2021 as a hybrid event, presenting the 2021 College Fair on the UgoVirtual platform in concert with a live event in Wilmington, NC.
